What experience and qualifications do you have?
I served as the Assistant Director of Operations for the Department of Governmental and Community Affairs the first semester of the 2009-2010 school year, working on issues like tuition raises and lobbying for the funding of the Arts and Humanities building. I am currently a staff member of the SOS (Student Organization Support) team, as a liaison to Greek life.
What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
If anything, I hope to make change to a lot of the smaller issues UMBC students are facing. I believe that we face more issues a of a smaller nature than we do large scale problems. Things like our inclement weather policy, where students (especially commuters) are not notified of delays/closings early enough, or issues regarding the long waiting period for final grades to be posted. While things like a parking lot takes years and millions of dollars to fix, these problems we face each semester can be fixed with much less money (maybe even free), and will make our UMBC careers much more enjoyable. Do note that I will still advocate for the larger UMBC projects, but I will mostly focus on things I can definitely improve within my year as a Senator, if elected. In summation, I hope to leave UMBC better than when I entered.
What I really want students to know about me is….
I am open to any and all ideas, concepts, and questions. Always feel free to ask.
Platform Summary:
- Improve the university - student relationship, in which students have a more direct outlet to express issues with the campus.
- Repair the smaller problems facing UMBC students, to alleviate many of the stressful situations we find ourselves in every semester.
- Advocate for things the student body feels strongly about, no matter what scale the nature.
