Hamza Siddiqui for Senator

What experience and qualifications do you have?

The greatest experience that qualifies me are the experiences and interactions we share as UMBC students. We face the same problems and issues, and celebrate the shared success and moments. In addition to my UMBC experience, I bring to you over 5 years of staunch student advocacy and learned innovative acumen on all fronts, be it serving as a First Year Ambassador for UMBC Senate or on a education policy committee that has tangible impact on students, even CFO for a national corporation.

What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?

My initiatives and platform basically fall into three overarching goals for my term as Senator is 1.)working to expand SGA's influence and impact, not only on campus, but in the USM and the State, 2.)address the current communication discrepancy and distance that exists between the student body and SGA and 3.)continue to build on the changing culture that is bringing new opportunities and recognition to our campus.

What I really want students to know about me is….

I am a passionate and staunch believer in our power to have real, meaningful impact on our campus and community. My term as a member of Senate and SGA is and always will be inclusive. We are partners, as a vanguard against unfair encroachments on our rights and opportunities, and as collaborators working to better our education and experiences at UMBC.

Platform Summary:
  • Increase transparency and communication on issues, considerations and opportunities to provide student centered and action-oriented solutions.
  • Address the concerns we all have: tuition and fees increases, parking, campus food and life, and commuter/campus inclusion.
  • Amend and fix arcane policies to afford and empower the student body with the rights, opportunities and environment we deserve.
