What experience and qualifications do you have?
SGA Judge Advocate 2010-2011 As a judge advocate, I helped student organizations edit and submit their constitutions in order to be recognized by UMBC. Also, I gained valuable experience working within SGA so I already know many officers. My experience in this position will help me hit the ground running as a Senator. University Systems of Maryland Student Council, UMBC Representative 2010-2011 As one of UMBC's representatives, I traveled to other campuses once a month to meet with representatives from all public universities in Maryland. We discussed issues at each person's school, how they were able to solve them, and other successful programs being held at each institution. From this position, I learned about student government at other schools, which will allow me to incorporate their good ideas and avoid their mistakes.
What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
Mainly, I want to reach out to students. SGA is supposed to be and do what students want; it's here to serve you. As a Senator, I would work to facilitate the growth of the Retriever Learning Center, a new 24/7 study space that will be available in the library next year. The atrium is simply not big enough for all of UMBC and we deserve something better.
What I really want students to know about me is….
I am smart, hard-working, and goal oriented. I love UMBC, and I want to be able to do more for it. That's why I am running for Senate, so that I can invest more into the school that has already given me so much.
Platform Summary:
- Facilitate Retriever Learning Center growth
- Extend free hour to Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Reform meal deals to include a wider variety of options
