Ben Ofori for Senator

What experience and qualifications do you have?

I have an ample amount of experience in SGA. I was a student member of Paint Branch High School SGA for three years, proposing and enacting ideas in order to help the student body grow. I am currently in the Political Science Council of Majors and Pre-Law society. I am very outspoken, a leader and not afraid to take action when needed.

What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?

My platform will be to focus on school housing, tuition and financial aid. As of the past few years, UMBC has been gradually increasing its tuition, causing many student to have to withdraw. I hope to make a stand in lowering the cost of tuition, books, and room and board Also, housing distribution in UMBC is very stagnant. It is slow and I would like to find a more efficient way of distributing housing. Lastly, It is hard to get financial aid as a student. I would like to distribute more financial aid fairly and evenly. I also want to work in getting a football team for our school.

What I really want students to know about me is….

I want students to know that I am here to work for them. I do not shy away from my tasks. I am a student who faces the same problems as them, and will work with them in any problem they face. I'm very determined, gregarious, and friendly and love to meet new people.

Platform Summary:
  • I want to increase the amount of financial aid distributed.
  • I want to stop tuition increases, and reduce the price of books.
  • I want to create and propose efficient ways to distribute housing to commuters and transfer students.
