Erica Jones for Vice President for Student Organizations

What experience and qualifications do you have?

I currently work in a new branch of the SGA called Student Organization Support (S.O.S). I work closely with William Joyner who is the current VPSO. I understand the expectations and responsibilities that this position, SGA, and student organizations would require of me. Ive helped to recognize over 20 student organizations this year.

What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?

My goal is to continue the progress that the S.O.S has achieved this year by assisting new organizations to become established, helping them to collaborate amongst each other, and provide an increase of accessibility to student organizations. I also want to ensure that all sport clubs are supported just as much as other student organizations are supported.

What I really want students to know about me is….

As a former transfer student who needed a way to be involved, I have come to deeply enjoy the current work that I do for SGA. I have grown to love the campus and most importantly, the well-being of the students that attend this university. I am an active participant of different student organizations and have worked closely with new student clubs that have recently started in addition to ones that have been running for years. My plan, if elected, would be to continue the work that S.O.S has done this current year which was help student groups collaborate when similar interest were present, create resources for new organizations that want to begin, and be an active voice for students in different administrative meetings .

Platform Summary:
  • More equality for clubs placed in the sports and recreation category.
  • Supporting student organizations through the new catering contract process. next year.
  • Make sure that new organizations are recognized quickly and more efficient.
