What experience and qualifications do you have?
During my freshman year I was a part of the following organizations: First Year Council, First Year Ambassador to the Senate, College Democrats, Health Leads, Phi Mu, and the Social Work Student Association. All of these combined have integrated me into the UMBC campus and allowed me to make many connections. In the SGA I am currently working on opening the Commons during the weekend, changing the application, changing the academic calendar, and many other exciting things that I don’t want to jeopardize the success of by mentioning them now. I’m really passionate about what I do and I work hard to see things through to the end.
What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
I hope to change the campus culture. UMBC is known for its academics and I really value that about our school. However, I believe college is just as much a social experience as it is an academic experience. If I win I hope to create a campus where we are known for what we do both outside and inside the classroom. I hope to foster attempts to make our campus more 'school-spirited' and give people a reason to be excited to come to UMBC for something other than their great academics.
What I really want students to know about me is….
I'm in love with UMBC. I'm a tour guide and I get to show prospective students around campus and tell them how much I love UMBC and why it's perfect for them. However, there are a lot of things I don't like about UMBC and I want to change them. I believe that as a member of this community I am more than someone who goes to class and takes exams. I believe everyone should strive to fix something that they don't like in their community. I have found a niche in SGA that allows me to create effective change that benefits the community at large. I’m really passionate about what I do and I encourage others to join the process to make UMBC the best place it can be. I believe the best change comes through teamwork so don’t hesitate to bounce ideas off of me!
Platform Summary:
- Have more food options on the weekend.
- Increase and promote student activity in SGA and throughout the campus.
- Make the advising process and grade release process more transparent.
