Chisom Ebinama for Senator

What experience and qualifications do you have?

As an Executive member of the SGA Governmental Affairs, I lobbied with my fellow club members for the UMBC’s performing art and humanities building fund. Through my zeal for a change, I also participated in educating students on the impacts of the tuition increase and how they can make a difference by writing their respective House Representatives. As a Resident Assistant, I have contributed immensely to shaping the experience of diverse UMBC students -- by being resourceful and also guiding students to utilizing the various opportunities at UMBC.  Through my role as a former Secretary of the Maryland Student Delegation, I have also been privileged to write legislative bills that states the concerns and needs of the UMBC students.

What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?

My platform is simply tagged "student awareness and empowerment." My main objective when I become a senator is to get students involved with the daily routine of the student government. The above mentioned goal is coined from the fact that most students are oblivious of the duties and significance of the SGA. Thus, through my role as a senator, I hope to support a campaign that will get students involved and empowered.

What I really want students to know about me is….

I want students to know that I am a peoples person who is worthy of their votes and trust. I also want students to know that their common interest is my utmost goal-- which implies that I am devoted to serving and representing their interest.

Platform Summary:
  • Encourage students to write their respective representatives on the effects of tuition increase and its impacts on families within the state
  • Create more social on-campus events
  • Help foster a community where everyone is encouraged to contribute to the prosperity of UMBC
